Grand Openings
Dead Time Stories: The Sequel - Charlotte Michigan
REO Town isn’t the only place around Lansing with haunted book store called Dead Time Stories. Podcaster, author, and all around bad ass, Jenn Carpenter opened a second location of Dead Time Stories in the Charlotte Eaton County's Museum at Courthouse Square, on the first floor. Like a miniature, little satellite location, 20 minutes south of Lansing, the shop is the perfect addition to the haunted museum. Be sure to head in there, check it out, buy some eccentric gifts, murder books, horror novels, or quirky stationary. And don’t forget about the Spider Shelf! Yes, live spiders available to good, spooky homes. Dead Time Stories the Sequel held its grand opening on June 7, 2025.
John Smoltz Strike Out Baseball Stadium
Hall of Famer, baseball player, John Smoltz joined a large crowd filled with community members, families, baseball enthusiasts, and more celebrated the Ribbon Cutting of the first ever Strike Out Baseball Field on June 06, 2025. It’s not your typical baseball field, secured to just a fenced in “infield” with a different set of rules and run time. Of course, still housed with a commentator box and speakers, but meant to craft the idea of “pick up baseball” games. Shorter times, different rules. All with the hopes that young players will have the opportunity to play ball with easier access. The city of Lansing donated the space to hold the stadium, multiple sponsors line the “bricks” and Lansing Parks and Rec intend to maintain the property as well too.

Veteran’s/D Day Protest - June 06, 2025
The Capital Lawn hosted between 100-200 individuals from 12-2 PM for a smaller protest, but still just as important and the ones that pull out the crows sizes of 1,000s. Veterans from across the state traveled to Lansing, Michigan to find community, resources, and sign up to help battle the current administration and their “cost cutting” tactics that directly affect today’s Veterans.
The majority of the individuals I spoke to were frustrated by the administration not taking care of their vets, feared getting tossed into concentration camps because of the direction our government is heading, and stood tall with one another against not just Donald Trump, but congressman District 7, Tom Barrett. Who prefers to visit particular veterans in certain locations, and never speak to real constituents in Michigan who are dependent on these services. It’s safe to say, they dislike not just Trump, but also JD Vance and Tom Barrett. Video Here.
A Haunting in REO Town - June 07, 2025
REO Town Marketplace held a spooky little soiree on June 7, 2025 that showcased loads of independent gothic vendors, a costume contest (where yours truly won “best original” dressed as Femme Beetlejuice) a beautiful hearse display, tarot readings, ghost hunters, tours of the Mortuary museum, best selling book authors, Awaken Haunted Attraction and more. For a gal who loves everything spooky, it was fun to get out there and break out my Beetlejuice costume during a spring day. Any time to be spooky is a good time for me.
