06/16/25, Lansing Michigan - Now News Guerilla Journalist, Jacki Krumnow took to the capital of Michigan to live report and document the No Kings, Kick Out the Clown protest on June 14, 2025 — the same day of sitting president Donald Trump’s Birthday and “militia parade” of 250 years. Aka Donald Trumps Birthday parade. While the parade in Washington DC was a flop, some estimating less than 8,000 people in attendance, probably more military marchers than actual attendees, Lansing Michigan held strong with an estimated 10,000 to 15,000 people at the protest throughout the 6 hour event.

By far the largest demonstration witnessed by Krumnow, and some speculate the largest to take the capital in Michigan ever, one sentiment rang supreme, no kings in America, impeach this current administration, and Donald Trump has already over stayed his welcome after only 6 months of his presidency. With outrageous executive orders, trying to go over the rulings of the supreme court, and flat out ignoring the checks and balances of the American Democracy which was impaired to begin with, but now crumbling before our very eyes, the American people joined together for one day. Across the nation and the world, where estimates have come in that 13.14 Million people demonstrated their right to protest against the leader of the free world.
Lansing Michigan had multiple organizations craft the event which went from 11 AM until just about 5 PM. 50501 Michigan being the lead with the most volunteers and time placed into the event. It started at 11 AM with an ICDP tribute rally to ted Lawson.
12-2 PM we saw multiple individuals taking he stage to speak out during the rally portion. The MC of the event dawned a Jester outfit and introduced the different speakers. Beginning with a Land Acknowledgement by Nichol Keway Biber of Clean Water Action: Indigenous Rights. The coalition against genocide for Palestine, Voting Rights Choice, Disability Rights, Environmental Issues, No Detention Centers in Michigan, Racial Justice, Accepting Security & Medicare, Trans Rights, and Reproductive Rights were all spoke about by leaders in the community as well then too.

The crowd barreled into the streets from 2-3 PM to march not on the Capital lawn this time, but into downtown Lansing. Where the intention was to keep protesters on the sidewalks, but there were just so many of them that Lansing PD had to show up to close down the main strips as they peacefully took over the entire block. They marched, they chanted, raised their colorful signs, bubbles being blown into the wind. Aside from impeding traffic for about an hour, the event was completely peaceful. Families with wagons and strollers, individuals biking and scootering around. People in wheelchairs and with canes or walking sticks. Young children on the back of their parents shoulders, lovers holding hands, elders shuffling along side of youths, peacefully. People of all backgrounds, veterans, nurses, educators, every day people, white, black, brown, all joined together on the capital lawn. It was by far the most diverse crowd of individuals to participate in a national day of protest yet in Lansing Michigan, which Krumnow has attended.

From 3 to 5 pm, the satirical carnival took place, with a dunk tank of Donny Boy across the street at the local church, stilt walkers, jugglers, face painting, hula hoop artists, drag performances, stand up comedy, and more bubbles on the capital lawn. Multiple booths had spaces there for individuals to sign petitions, learn more, or volunteer with organizations. A mutual Aid Drive also took place for donations during the event to help those in need.

The protest was crafted with love in mind for attendees and to stand up against tyranny. Lansing Michigan contributed to the National Day of Protest crafted in part by 50501, Indivisible, and the Women’s March, which got 3.5% of the American population to go out and protest on this day. Michigan held more than 70 protests throughout the state, from large cities which had multiple demonstrations like Detroit, to small little red dot cities. Michigan showed up. And was actually 3.5% or 7% of all protests throughout the nation. I think I read that somewhere. But it was a TikTok, so I mean I can’t be totally quoted on that. But it’s nice to think that. Michigan was in the top 7 of most protests scheduled throughout the United States.
In the end, it was a beautiful day to shout into the void and boo at not just Donald Trump but the entire administration. And tell democrats in office, they too need to do their job and fights against fascism.
The next day of protest in Lansing Michigan promoted by 50501 Mi is an event hosted by multiple members on July 5th. Many other demonstrations are getting slotted for that day and July 4th from current rumors on the web. The theme in Lansing, Michigan is a FUNERAL FOR DEMOCRACY. Poster below the video archive.
If you would like to volunteer and join the fight, look into joining 50501 Michigan on their Discord channel where you will be screened and placed into appropriate threads. Many hands make light of lots of work. Together, we can Make America One Again. A place for everyone.
